Embraer delivered the first EMBRAER 195 jet to Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, which will be the first Brazilian airline to operate the E-Jets. The contract is for 36 firm orders: 31 EMBRAER 195s and five EMBRAER 190s. The deal was announced in Mar-08, and also includes options for another 20 aircraft and purchase rights for another 20.

BRAZIL : (XFN Asia) Genesis Lease Ltd stated it has agreed to lease two Boeing 737-700 aircraft to VRG Linhas Aereas SA, a subsidiary of Brazil-based GOL Airlines, for a period of seven years. Terms of the two new leases were not disclosed. Genesis Lease said the GOL Airlines unit is expected to take delivery of the aircraft before the end of July.

BRAZIL : GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA, the parent company of Brazilian airlines GOL Transportes Aereos SA and VRG Linhas Aereas SA, announced that the Company was ranked second among non-bank companies in a Latin American corporate governance study conducted by Spanish sustainability consulting group, Management & Excellence (M&E). According to the study, conducted in partnership with LatinFinance magazine, GOL employs 90.2% of the required positive corporate governance practices included in the analysis, compared to an average score of 62.34% by the 50 companies included in the research. GOL is the only airline named in the M&E report.

For the month of May 2008, Copa Holdings' system-wide passenger traffic (RPM) increased 19.9%, while capacity (ASM) increased 11.6%. System load factor for May 2008 was 75.3%, a 5.2 ppts increase year-on-year.

BRAZIL : TAM announced its operating data for May 2008, as disclosed by the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). According to ANAC, TAM registered 16.0% growth in domestic RPK compared to the same period last year, and 10.2% increase in domestic ASK. In May 2008, market demand increased 16.6% and market supply increased 14.1%. TAM registered domestic market share (RPK) of 49.3%, a 0.2 ppt decrease compared to the same period in 2007. TAM's domestic load factor was 73.1%, 2.8 ppts higher than the market average of 70.3%. In the international market, TAM registered 34.0% growth in RPK and 23.5% in ASK. The company reported record market share of 74.3%, representing 1.9 ppt growth year-on-year. TAM attained 74.5% load factor, 6.2 ppts higher than the market average of 68.3%.

(TAM Airlines) in order to strengthen the cohesiveness of the companies making up the TAM Group. Captain David Barioni Neto, President of TAM Linhas Aereas, will take over the Executive Management of TAM Airlines, adding to his responsibilities as Chairman of the Paraguayan company.
