Spirit Airlines celebrates launch of new nonstop service between San Diego and Las Vegas

What: The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority will celebrate the inaugural Spirit Airlines flight into San Diego from Las Vegas with a water canon salute and brief ceremony at the departure gate of the inaugural outbound flight from San Diego to Las Vegas.

When: Wednesday, September 7, 2011, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

- Robert H. Gleason, Chair, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Board

- Angela Shafer-Payne, Vice President of Planning and Operations, Airport Authority

Where: 6:10 p.m. – Water canon salute viewing, Terminal 2 West, Gate 33

6:20 p.m. – Departure flight gate ceremony & ribbon-cutting, Terminal 2 East, Gate 30

Notes: Media are requested to arrive at 5:45 p.m. in front of the Terminal 2 West security checkpoint at the top of the escalators (at the far west end of Terminal 2 West) to be badged. Those attending will be required to go through the security screening checkpoint along with any camera equipment. Airport Authority staff will then escort you to Gate 33 to view the water cannon salute for the inbound aircraft and then to the departure gate ceremony at Gate 30.

News media are encouraged to park in the SAN Park Terminal 2 temporary parking lot located off McCain Road from Harbor Drive. Parking will be validated.
