MP Petit announced the investment of $664,050 to replace a runway sweeper and purchase a self-propelled snow blower at the airport as part of the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP). “The safety of Canadians who work at and use airports is important for our government,” said MP Petit. “Thanks to the safety upgrades announced today, the Saint-Hubert Airport can continue to provide excellent, safe and efficient service to passengers and businesses in the communities it serves.” “We are pleased to have acquired this new equipment thanks to the Airports Capital Assistance Program,” said Mr. Pierre-Hugues Miller, president of the Développement Aéroport Saint-Hubert de Longueuil. “The upgrades would not have been possible without the Government of Canada’s financial support.” To date, the Government of Canada has invested a total of $535 million for 651 projects at 170 airports through ACAP. These improvements will be funded in 2010-2011 under ACAP. This year, the Government of Canada will invest more than $42 million in safety-related improvements at airports across Canada. |
